Pornography, violence, and other sensitive issues clatter the internet. More than their availability, what alarming is how ease they can be accessed. Even minors and children can surf all over World Wide Web as long as they know how to turn on computer and use run the internet. This is good if they are viewing essential learning mediums. However, malicious contents and sites are only a click away and there is a very high possibility they would get there even without intentions.

The convenience of accessing sensitive contents devastates youth today. Some even took suicide after reading a web content on how to do it. Others took drugs, while several outraged taking lives in public with guns and deadly weapons. This is the shadow behind the glory of internet.

Children are too innocent to judge what is right and wrong. They instantly believe information that appeals to them with authority and credibility. Often times parents have no idea of their children’s net activities as they are busy working as well. Without attention, interests and discoveries of minors are misguided. Eventually children’s mind becomes agitated with deceits of unreliable sources of info. Sadly, most parents only notice something is going wrong when the problem starts worsening. It is when the child change behavior already, his grades goes down, or when he starts to yell at mom.

Some sites took the initiative of taking credit card number from the users to confirm their legal age. Softwares filtering malicious web pages and sites are now also made available in the market. Nevertheless, many web junks still poison innocent minds. I wonder why internet contents and publishers do not have censor as movies do. Internet is the most accessible wide-ranging media this day. Its power to reach every person on any age and race is already proven along with its ill effects. Thus, governments across the globe should take control of this dilemma once and for all. Laws and resolution should be made solving the worsening predicament.

While the hope to censor web contents is still unrealized, let us take the initiative. Give closer guidance and more quality time to your younger siblings and friends. Reveal them the reality that not all web info’s are true, and not all contents are proper to view. Have your family and parents together as much as possible with younger ones. Instill to minors near you that there are more reliable source of info than the internet…true friends, family, and God.
