How to share a Printer between multiple Computers

I will tell you how to share a printer between a number of computers using Windows XP  Operating System.

Let us begin sharing a printer using Windows XP


  • Clcik Start 
  • Select Settings
  • Select and Click Printers and Faxes
  • A list of Installed printers on your computer will appear eg.. hp, canon, epson etc..
  • Right Click the printer you want to share
  • Select and Click Sharing...
  • A security warning will appear telling you to use the Network setup wizard to safely share your printer to the network. You may run the network wizard if you like. Lets ignore the wizard and click the i understand the risk and want to share the printer without running the network wizard
  • A popup window will appear asking you to use the network wizard or ignore the wizard and just enable printer sharing Click the option Just enable printer sharing
  • Click the share this printer option
  • Type the Printer share name eg hp, epson, etc
  • If you want to install additional drivers for workstations running other operating system you may do so by clicking the Additional drivers button. After clicking the Additional driver button Select the type of operating systems that other computers in the network are using eg. Windows NT 2000 64 bit os etc. and then click Ok. You will be ask to provide the CD containing the drivers of your printer after inserting the disk driver click Ok
  • If you do not Install additional drivers for your printer Just click Ok.

Your printer is now shared to multiple computers in your network
