Philippines, one of the slowest internet connections in Asia

Most of us are aware that here in our country, internet speed is not that good. You will surely feel the difference once you have tried using the internet in other countries. So why is it that our country's internet connection is still slow but the pricing of the internet plans is almost the same with our neighboring countries.

There would be several reasons why our internet speed is still among the slowest but I think that the main reason behind is that we still cannot afford to invest on this aspect. If you are going to look at the reports generated by various tests, you will notice that we are still on the very bottom of the graph. I am pretty sure that most of us want blazing internet speeds but to tell you frankly, it still might take several years before we could attain that.

On the ranking of the fastest in Asia, Singapore is on the top of the list and that would not be a surprise. Singapore is basically known as one of the leading countries when it comes to the IT industry and it means that their technology is up to date.

If you will compare, Singapore's internet... speed is around 60 Mbps while our country's average speed is only around 3 - 4 Mbps. It just means that our speed is 15 times slower compared to Singapore. The pricing between Singapore and the Philippines' internet connection actually does not differ that much but the speed is way too far from what they are currently using.

For offices here in the country that needs a stable and faster internet connection, they usually use a leased line so that the internet connection would be better especially those BPO companies that are supporting other countries.

Here in our country, you already have a good connection if you are already using 4G / LTE as internet connection but as of the moment, 4g only supports few parts of the Philippines. I hope that they are still on the process of upgrading to the extent that almost all parts of the country support 4g.

As I have said above, it would still take time before we could experience those blazing speeds that Singapore is experiencing and maybe that time, Singapore's speed might again be 15 times faster already. I will be looking forward to that day that our internet speed could already download a 1GB file in a span of minutes.
