Installing an antivirus program is the most common effective way to protect your computer from annoying viruses. Resident Shield is the most popular technique that an antivirus program is using to prevent a virus to make changes to your system without your knowledge. Now, some users are aware that some programs have virus but still they wanted to run the program and used it, why? Well it's simple, because some programs contains important information; they want to take risk instead. But what if there's another way of doing this in a safer way without the risk of damaging the computer's system programs. I found this simple program called "Sandboxie".

Sandboxie is a simple application software that makes a program run into an "isolated area" so it won't damage or make any changes to your system in case there is a virus. It also secures your web browsing and web emails by running your browser with Sanboxie, all threats are already isolated or trapped into one place without leaking into your windows system. Sandboxie supports almost all popular software like Yahoo Messenger, Skype, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Utorrent and WinZip.

Now Sandboxie works pretty well with 32bit and 64bit based operating system, supporting the latest version of Windows; Windows Vista SP1 and Windows 7 build 7600. It can run under Intel Pentium 4 Processor, 512MB RAM, and a minimum of 4MB hard disk space.

Technical method of Sandboxie: Sandboxie does not allow any changes to any data on your hard drive by making an isolated virtual space. All data that are performing inside your hard drive are set into one virtual space, so it won’t spread out everywhere; does making permanent changes to your system. With the user’s knowledge to perform any changes by a program, it’s now easier to detect virus attacks.

There are some known issues and conflicts with these software:  AnVir Task Manager, Canon Printers, HP Universal Print Driver, McAfee Viruscan Enterprise 8.7i, Nuance OmniPage, PC-Tools Spyware Doctor Version 7, Rising Anti-Virus, SnagIt, Trusteer Rapport, Webroot AntiSpyware Corporate Edition, and ZoneAlarm Internet Security. Check their website under Help and FAQ’s for more information.

Sandboxie is not a free software. Some functions are not available while using this on 30 days evaluation, after 30 days Sandboxie will prompt user to buy the product. But you don’t have to worry while using Sandboxie, it won’t annoy you to buy until it reaches the 30 days evaluation period.
