When you buy a new computer you will be impressed on its fast performance or total efficiency. But after several months, you will start wondering what is wrong with your PC. It is now performing very slow, when you open your computer you experienced very slow start-up and when you started working everything is getting slow. The big question is what is going on with your computer.

Let me give you some scenario to answer that question. Sooner you will realize why your computer is sluggish. Actually, there are several reasons, but I will be giving you the top or the most common reasons.

After using your computer for several months, one thing is for sure you already installed and uninstalled different programs. Am I right? Did you know that this is one of the main reasons why computer becomes sluggish? Every time you installed or uninstalled a program some of file was left in your PC-these are mostly the .dll files. Seldom when you uninstall a program, some of registry entries are not totally deleted and make your registry files bigger. This is why it takes a lot of time before your computer start-up. Every time there will be task involving your registry it will take time because it will be reading all the contents of your registry before doing the new task. Remember the bigger your registry needs much time to perform the necessary task. This is why there are time you experienced slow computer process. Got it?

Another factor that you might consider is the virus-spyware, adware or Trojans. Nowadays, it is very common that a computer might be encountering any virus. You will notice a slow computer performance right after your computer has been infected with a virus. These viruses were made to make your computer work improperly, to worsen your computing life. Let me ask you this, "how sure are you that your antivirus software is capable of protecting your unit from any infection?" To avoid virus related problems, make sure you have an anti-virus software installed in your computer and it is updated. Most of all make sure it is capable of deleting any detected virus before and it has firewall capability to protect you from any on-line threats. Make it your habit to have scheduled scanning of atleast once a week. Also, scan any removable device before using it. Virus threats are very dangerous; it can make your computer very sluggish the worst to destroy it.

You can also consider the memory capacity of your computer. For example, you are running Microsoft Vista and your memory is only 1GB, it is really expected that you will experience slow computer performance. Have atleast 2GB of higher of hard disk for better performance.

The last option is hard disk problem. If you are running out of hard disk space, you will start having slow computer performance. Once your dive C is full you will start having this problem, start deleting unnecessary file. When your hard disk had bad sector you will also have the same problem, you must start repairing the bad sector. In case it cannot be repaired anymore, replace your hard disk. Another scenario is when you have scattered files on your hard drive because of your uninstalled and deleted files. You should defrag your computer once a month. To do this, from your task bar click on START>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Defragmenter>Select your desired hard drive.

In case you have done repairing your registry, scanning your computer for any virus and replacing your hard disk and still nothing happens, consult your technician or you may reformat your computer.
